The app is specifically designed to create an EASY method of secure email communication between iPhone/iPad users. But since it uses industry standard S/MIME technology it is compatible with any other person's device desktop or mobile and any operating system as long as they are using S/MIME standard.

To be able to send a secure email to someone, you first need to get their Public Certificate. This can be accomplished in multiple ways:

1. If the user is using Secutor App, then you go to your own Secutor App and select 'Look-up Keys' on the right bottom of the screen. Here you will select the contact from your own iPhone address book. The friend you want to send email to has to be in your address book and the record has to have the email address you want to send email to. After this selection, system gives you the Public Key of your friend, and let's you automatically install it. From this point on (if you have finished your initial setup with Secutor) you can send S/MIME encrypted messages to your friend. Since we do not let the Private Key to be exported from the device for your own security, you and your friend can only read encrypted messages on your devices which you installed and configured Secutor. In the future we might introduce a feature which will let users to export their private keys in a secure manner which will enable users to install it to other devices, desktop or mobile, and be able to read encrypted emails.

2. If the user is not using Secutor App but using another solution with S/MIME standard, then s/he must give you their Public S/MIME Key. This can easily be done by sending you an email with their Public Key. After you receive the key, you simply click and install the attachment to your iPhone and from that moment on you are able to send encrypted emails to your friend (if you have finished your initial setup with Secutor)

3. If the user is not using Secutor App but using another solution with S/MIME standard, and if the user has selected to Sign their emails with their S/MIME Key, they you will see a small Signed Seal next to their names when you open an email from them on your iPhone. If you see this sign, you can click on it and choose to install their Public S/MIME Key to your iPhone. From that moment on you are able to send encrypted emails to your friend (if you have finished your initial setup with Secutor)
